Anadwo (Tonite) feat. K.O.G.

about

The first single from Scrimshire’s fifth studio album is an energetic leap forward.

Cementing many ideas that have appeared through his previous records, disco edits, live and DJ performances, Anadwo, written with Ghanaian artist K.O.G., is possibly his most extroverted record to date.

Dusty guitar and piano sounds bump along under buzzing keyboard melodies, sweetly low-fi and warm, lifting Kweku’s kinetic vocals higher.

K.O.G. sings to you about working hard and stepping out into something more positive. Longing to meet up and share happiness in sunshine.

“My last album was a reawakening for me, and I’ve written more in the last year than in five before it. Anadwo represents one volume of songs that are a more positive and extroverted piece. Lockdown brought that need for energy and release forward a lot. But there is another side and more exposed feelings I’ve explored and hope to share too.”

Albert’s Favourites co-founder Adam Scrimshire released his fourth album 'Listeners' in summer 2019. Musically, 'Listeners' drew from Scrimshire's passion for jazz, soul and electronic music of all styles; from an energetic combination of Afrobeat and garage to lushly orchestrated neo-soul and harmonious jazz experimentations.

Listeners had support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, Nemone and Huey Morgan, was Album of the Day on BBC Radio 6 Music, and featured on the Jamie Cullum Jazz Show on BBC Radio 2.
